22 Week Update

Thank you sweet Kyle for waking up early to snap this picture before I left for work.  We are trying to move away from the mirror so that we don't capture Kyle taking the picture everytime.  I hope that our children laugh at us the way that we laugh at/with each other. 

How Far Along? 22 weeks...the days and weeks keep flying!  

Size? 

Baby is:

Maternity Clothes?  Belly band on all pants and two Target maternity long-sleeve shirts.  Still wearing the same flowy skirts that I have been wearing.  I'm now showing enough that you can tell in whatever I wear!  Hooray!  I told Timmy about my maternity faux leather leggings and his response cannot be typed onto a public blog.  HAHA.  I'll wear them once and see what reactions I get.  I think at this point the bod will still look good in them.  (I may have already posted this story, but it's so funny that I have to tell it again...) When I first got my pre-pregnancy leather pants I commented to Kyle, "Man!  I look HOTT in these pants!"  Kyle quickly replied, "Yeah...they look SUPER uncomfortable..."  No honey, your wife looks HOTT with two T's....    

Weight Gain? I was at 6lb. last week but have been trying to add more calories each day.  Hopefully I am up another lb. or two but I am not counting...just making sure that I eat more than I was and that I am feeling good, which I am!  My app says that in the next month Baby Girl will have doubled her weight!

Stretch Marks? Nope.  Using the Burt's Bees Momma Tummy Lotion twice a day.

Gender? A precious baby GIRL!  Sweet, southern, family, double name to be announced soon!  And no, SuSu it's not Mary Grace.  Good guess though!     

Sleep?  Yes, please.  I am not afraid to close my eyes around 9...or maybe 8:30.  Luckily I feel very rested in the AM and am good to go throughout the day.     

Movement? Yes and I just LOVE it.  Still not super strong jabs... but literally as I just typed that she punched me.  HEYYY Baby GGGIIIRRLLL!  My favorite time of the day is early in the AM and once I get home from work and can lay on the couch.  Having this miracle growing inside of you definitely makes you enjoy restful times when you can just lay and feel God's work truly moving inside of you.  It. is. precious. 

Food Cravings? Anything sweet.  I baked some cookies on Sunday and have made sure to eat 2-4 each night.  Yum!  Also drinking a BIG glass of OJ or Organic Apple Juice each morning.  (Kyle refuses to drink the apple juice because he said he "only drinks juice from concentrate..."  Oh please. )
     

Anything making you queasy or sick? No, thank goodness. 

Labor signs? No!  Still have 18 weeks to go.  

Belly button in or out? I would say that it's more out than it is in, but it's not poking out...yet.  And no, Mary Agnes, you cannot see a "blowhole" through my shirts.  HAHA.
  

Wedding rings, on or off? On. Now that it's getting cold my fingers are shrinking...for now anyways.  

What I Miss? Nothing really.

Symptoms?  The weather in Chicago has been crazy lately...snowing one day...60 and rainy the next...and now it's just cold.  Hello winter.  So like any weather or season change, I've had a cold this week.  Feeling much better now though!    

Happy or Moody? SUPER happy!  I dream about this sweet child every single night and wake up in the morning thinking of the rest of our lives with this and hopefully many more little Moores!  It's also nice to know that everyone knows, so Baby Girl is talked about all day long!

Best Moment of the Week? 

1. BuyBuyBaby with Daddy Kyle.  I began prepping Kyle for this trip a week in advanced.  I told him exactly why we were going, which was to order a glider/recliner and test drive a stroller, and stuck to those things.  Kyle does not shop (he buys...so he claims) and from past experiences "shopping" with him I knew that my time would be limited and that if I did not stick to our objectives it would not be fun for anyone.  As we pulled into the parking lot we spotted a pet store on the corner and with the promise of going to look at puppies when it was all over, Kyle was just as happy as could be for nearly an hour and a half.  I told him to take a deep breath as we walked in and then I made a beeline for the chair section.  He sat, glided, reclined, and agreed on the one that I had chosen and was super patient as I debated fabrics and even FaceTimed my momma for confirmation.  

Then we test drove strollers and it really was nice to have him there to voice his opinions about ease of use when comparing.  It was also fun to see him and his logical/realist self truly test driving the strollers...packing them up, unfolding them, taking parts off, etc. At one point I thought he was going to start timing me doing everything with each one and make a spreadsheet to compare.  (Did I mention enough how much I love him?)  We decided to go with the Bugaboo in all black.  My sweet friend and mother of 3 little girls, Michele, swears that it is the best city stroller.  I used hers when I babysat her, then, 8 month old twins and it was awesome!  Baby Girl and I are going to have so much fun strolling around the city visiting all of our friends!   

While we were there he even helped pick out a baby carseat.  Three big ticket items checked OFF our list!

2. Cleaning out and reorganizing the nursery, our room, and the den...so basically our whole condo.  We moved everything out of the second bedroom closets and found ways to fit all of our clothes and shoes back into one closet.  We also cleaned out and organized areas that had not been touched in 4 years!  We have lots of "Take to Goodwill" bags and threw away several bags of old undershirts and single socks.  Kyle, as I have found, is a clothes hoarder and collects old shirts and underwear until his drawers will no longer open.  This purge was very much needed....now we can start adding baby items and furniture to our house! 

Kyle cleaning out his nightstand drawers which included several flip phones, digital cameras, ticket stubs, an ipod wall charger, and literally everything that you probably have in your pocket at the end of the day and that you immediately throw into the trash.  He was not interested in posing for a picture.

Looking forward to...

Flying into Memphis next Wednesday to see MA and Timmy for a hot second, seeing our sweet GanGan for lunch, Egg Bowl with the Moore's and "Farm" family, Thanksgiving supper with my family (meeting little brother's new GF Angelia, too), and then lots of planning and buying for baby girl's nursery.  Oh and finally getting to share baby girl's name with our parents.  I just cannot wait to see their faces and begin hearing her name! As I have mentioned...it's just oh so much more sweet in a southern accent.  (Good thing our friends take on southern accents when we're together...Ashlee- your y'all is nearly perfect! )  

Sweet things and Life in General:

This week included World Prematurity Day (I know this only because of a blog that I follow) and I cried my eyes out watching this YouTube clip.  I was 6 weeks early and luckily did not have to spend much time in the NICU.  (My Momma "cooks" her babies fast she says.)  I know that not all families are that lucky though and I enjoyed hearing this family's story even though I had followed their online journey on the Momma's blog.  Counting our blessings and thanking the good Lord for this precious baby girl! 

Our Sweet Bryson is safe and sound after hiking the Himalayas.  This picture is of him at the Mt. Everest base camp.  He's having a blast and meeting a bunch of folks.  Cannot wait to have him home and hear all about it!  He'll be in Chicago in about 2 weeks.

Also love that even thousands of miles away and so much going on with himself he's still checking in and thinking about his future niece!  We love you Bryson and hope that baby girl gets many of your adventurous traits...your name, however, is not the one that I was referring to when I said we had a Moore family name in mind...   

21 Week Update

She IS there!  Hey Baby Giiirrrrllll!!!

How Far Along? 21 weeks.  Goodness this week blew by!  

Size? 

Baby is:

Y'all!  A spaghetti squash... That's big!  

Maternity Clothes?  I got my ASOS clothes in this week and cannot wait to sport my pregnancy faux leather leggings at the Egg Bowl.  I bought a black lace holiday party dress too and cannot wait to wear it at all of our holiday festivities!  Kyle, of course, rolled his eyes during my fashion show.  I also purchased another belly band which is just the best invention.  I can still where all of my pants as long as I have the band on to hold the unbutton and, for some, unzipped pants on.

Weight Gain? When we went to the DR on Wednesday I was still at 6 lbs total.  I asked a lot of questions about this and she basically said that I should not worry since Baby Girl was doing fine and all of our measurements were on track.  She did say that I needed to make a conscious effort to eat at least 300 more calories a day.  What a horrible problem to have right?!?!  

Stretch Marks? Nope.  I bought the Burt's Bee's Momma Tummy Lotion NOT the other stuff that was stinky.  I told Kyle that I feel like the enslaved chick on Silence of the Lambs when the guy makes her put on lotion all the time...(I considered embedding the clip from YouTube but it's super creepy so I'll just share the link: "It puts the lotion on..."  I literally lather it on 3-4 times per day...needless to say, I think I am pretty soft.  Also, how in the world will I be able to travel from this point on with all of the liquids and lotions that I now use...so long carry on baggage. 

Gender? A precious baby GIRL!  We have a name now too!  I just ordered these little happies from SoPrep,the cutest Etsy store, that will have her name on it!  We are looking forward to sharing her name with our families when we go home for Thanksgiving!  I will give you a few hints though...it is a DOUBLE NAME (duh) and it consist of two family names. one from my side and one from both of our sides.  I get giddy every time I say it!     

Sleep?  I am super tired after work and never have a hard time falling asleep.  Kyle says that all he has to do is turn on something with "Real" in the title, cut off the lights, and I am out (the story then goes on that he is able to watch whatever he wants....) However, in the early mornings...insomnia.  Just this week I have been waking up around 3:15 or 4:00 and having a hard time getting back to sleep.  Once I am up my mind just starts going, going, going.  This morning I was up at 4:30 and out of bed by around 5:30...have no fear I started organizing the second bedroom closet (I am sure our downstairs neighbors LOVED that...) and did some clearing out of my old college/pre-marriage computer.  Oh what gems I found (and will share later) on that old thing.  Kyle and I spent about an hour looking through old pictures and crying with laughter.    

Movement? More and more each day which I just love.  I have really begun to fell her more and more throughout the day beginning last weekend.  During report card pick up on Tuesday she danced all day long!  When I am in school I feel her the most when I am sitting down at the carpet working with my students.  I think that sitting indian style squishes her a little so she's kicking and telling me to move around.  Still cannot feel anything on the outside yet.  I CANNOT wait for Kyle to be able to feel her!

Food Cravings? Anything hearty.  Last night Kyle and I were on a mission to find red meat.  Luckily a good Cuban restaurant on Southport, Coobah, did the trick.

What I Miss? Definitely that oh so glorious daily mid-day coke-a-cola.  BUT it is Saturday so I get to treat myself to a coke ICEE.  HOORAY!  

Symptoms? We had our yearly "Toes Celebration" at Twin Anchors this week and devoured way more ribs and sides than most any human should in one sitting.  Kate T. and I, who are both pregnant, rubbed off on everyone and so the whole table ate for two.  Needless to say, I woke up in the middle of the night thinking that I was on my deathbed...hello heartburn...thank you TUMS on my nightstand.  I have never gotten this before being pregnant--so strange.

Best Moment of the Week? 

1.  Getting to see my regular OBGYN, Dr. Heraty, at our monthly  appointment.  I LOVE this woman and am following everything that she did when she had her two babies.  She is a friend of a friend and I recommend her to everyone.  She hugs me when she sees me, talks for as long as I need to, and is super honest and helpful.  When I found out that I was pregnant, she even called me personally to say congrats since I would not be seeing her for several weeks.  What a gem.  Anyways, on to the best moment...we were able to hear Baby Girl's heartbeat again and find out that not only is it strong and healthy (147 again) but I am measuring exactly where I should be for 20-21 weeks.  Hooray!  She gave us several pediatrician recommendations and even told us about the group that she takes her little ones to...which is where Baby Girl Moore will obviously be going as well. This is an answered prayer as Kyle and I have spent a lot of time researching insurance options and trying to decide who's to put her under so that she can see the best pediatrician.

This is not a sonogram video.  It is just a picture of her from our 19 week sonogram.  I had a hard time uploading just the sound so I figured that I would at least include a visual to go along with her 20 week 5 day heartbeat.  

2. Telling my school families about Baby Girl.  I had quite the set up with a sign and goodies for parents to take home at Report Card pick up.  They all laughed as soon as I told them and many said things like: "Well of course you are!," "You have to be kidding me!!," and "We are really good at giving baby showers now...,"  You see...the kids in this class have all been in the same gifted class together since kindergarten and for the past two years...now three...their teacher has gotten pregnant and left before the end of the school year.  EVERY year of their school lives this has happened.  I joked that when I interviewed for the position this information ("You will get pregnant when you teach this group...") was not disclosed.  We also decided that if there was a CPS teacher dealing with fertility issues, she should just teach this group since there's obviously something in the air around them.  HAHA.  Everyone was super excited though and one Momma even cried.  My kids were thrilled with the news and one sweet little boy wanted to know if the baby tickled me.  I tapped my fingers on his tummy to show him what it felt like and he thought it was the best feeling in the world, which it is, and exclaimed, "The baby DOES tickle you!!"  I also showed them the fireworks on Friday to tell them the gender and they thought it was so cool.  Many wanted to write down the YouTube link so that they could share it with their parents at home.  HAHA.  They all just hugged me, said congratulations, and wanted to be the one who got to name her.  Several have already made me gifts for her.  Bless these sweet kids and Coonley Elementary.  I am in a good place. :)

Bless him.  I know that he has looked up everyone of those things.  I hope that Baby Girl gets his silliness...but not the ADHD that has him searching all of those things...all at the same time...

Looking forward to...

Going home for Thanksgiving and getting to share her name and work on her nursery!  We have fabric to buy and designs to make.  I am so lucky to have such a talented and willing little sister who is going to make so much of Baby Girl's nursery items!

Life In General:

While my mind is indeed consumed with Baby Girl 99% of the time, we do in fact have other things going on in our lives.  Our sweet little brother Bryson is currently hiking in Nepal.  He has been there for nearly two weeks and is doing the Everest base camp trek and some other "trekking" over the course of November. We are extremely jealous and anticipate his pictures and stories upon his return.  Please keep him in your prayers as he is on this once in a lifetime adventure...well I take that back, for Bryson, I am sure that this is just one of MANY adventures like this.

20 Week Update

Well hello there Baby Girl!  After several rounds of cropping and editing the picture I think that the bump is a little exaggerated BUT rest assured she is there. :)  And yes this is a selfie that I took in GAP...it was just becoming too hard to only do a picture with that cute little gold framed chalkboard.  So much for Pintrest-er of the Year. 

How Far Along? 20 weeks = HALFWAY there!  I cannot believe it!  HOORAY!  I was telling Kyle today, it's weird to see that the number of weeks that I have been pregnant are now more than the number of weeks that we have left before we meet baby Girl.

Size?

Maternity Clothes?  Bought some tops from Gap today and some maternity leggings too.  I look much more pregnant in maternity clothes.  I think it's because my tummy is not confined/miserably forced into my pre-pregnancy pants.  The Belly Band has been fabulous and I have been able to wear said pants comfortably all day long.  Kyle's Momma told me that she and her friends used to loop an elastic tie from their pants button loop back to the button.  She was very impressed with all of the advances in pregnancy stuff. 

Weight Gain? Not sure.  Last DR visit was 6 lb. but I bet at our appointment in this week I will be up to 10ish.  I feel great though!  

Stretch Marks? Nope.  Still looking for some good pregnancy lotion.  Right now I just lather up with the lotion that I normally use. 

Gender? A sweet little GIRL! We have a name, kind of, but we are not 100% sure just yet.  We had a boy name picked out and have not really talked about any other girl names...I have been testing it out this week by referring to her by name throughout the day.  I always make sure to say it in a very strong southern accent which I think is one of the reasons I love it so much.

Sleep?  I have been exhausted after work everyday this week, most likely because of our fun filled weekend and not getting much sleep.  I am just making a point to come home after school and take it easy on the days when I can.  Lord knows after Baby Girl gets here those relaxing afternoons will be few and far between.  

Movement? Here and there.  I don't feel her during the day when I am running around at school but when I sit down I can feel jabs and flutters.  Still cannot feel anything on the outside yet.  I CANNOT wait for Kyle to be able to feel her!

Food Cravings? Anything sweet...but that's not surprising at all.  I am also eating a ridiculous number of mini-oranges each day.  Oh and hot chocolate makes me super happy.   

Anything making you queasy or sick? No, thank goodness. 

Labor signs? No!  Still have 20 weeks to go.  Half way there!

Belly button in or out? Still in but looking different by the day.

Best Moment of the Week? 

1. Finding out that Baby MO is a sugar and spice and everything nice PRECIOUS baby GIRL!

2. Finding a potential nanny for Baby Girl during the school year.  She is the mother of a student at my school, who I actually teach in afterschool, and keeps up to two children in her home...which also happens to be less than a mile from my school.  She currently keeps another teacher's child and is excited to possibly keep Baby Girl next year too.  The best part is we won't have to continue paying a nanny or daycare over the summers while I am out of school.  Kyle and I are excited to sit down with the lady, visit her home, and talk details.  Her son is just as cute, well behaved, and friendly as he can be which is very telling of her as a mother and Nanny.  She is also bilingual so Baby Girl would learn spanish too.  Smarty-pants!

Looking forward to..being able to feel more movement from Baby Girl, hearing her sweet heart beat and asking the DR 1,000,000 questions at our appointment on Wednesday, and going home for Thanksgiving to continue the nursery designing!

Also...Hip,hip, Hooray for my very BRAVE cousin Cori Sullivan who just (naturally) delivered her baby girl, Georgia Leigh, this week.  Congrats Mark, Cori, and Big Sister Stella Claire! We love y'all!

Part 1

Friday, Nov. 1- Sonogram Day

Kyle and I headed to our appointment at 8 am to have the 20 week sonogram (I was only 19 weeks but the date just worked out and they said it was fine).  I had been up since the crack of dawn giddy with anticipation and although Kyle laid in the bed for awhile, I know that he had not slept much the night before either.  I had been watching YouTube videos of people finding out the gender all week and had seen a few where the tech was unsure about whether the baby was a boy or girl so I told Kyle that if the tech needed my help in determining the gender then I was prepared to look.  After Kyle assured me that my "assistance" would not be necessary in helping a health care trained professional in doing her job, I settled into the fact that I would not know until Saturday night.  

Once we got checked in I began to freak out a little with nerves while Kyle "Cool as a Cucumber" Moore got a little school work finished.  How in the world was he computing numbers and making sense of spreadsheets at a time like this?!

As I sat their worrying about everything that could go wrong and my eyes began to fill with tears I started looking back through my secret "Baby Moore" board and found these two gems.  I read and read these two verses over and over just as I have done many times over the past 19 weeks.  When we were finally called in, Kyle had a better understanding of business strategies and I had a peace in my heart.   

On our walk back the sono tech asked if a Radiology resident could sit in to learn more about baby sonograms and we said sure.  After getting settled into the room and the tech turning on the machine she let us know that she had had too much coffee and needed to get a glass of water...she then told the Resident Observer to "get things started" by "playing around."  Bless his heart, he had no idea what he was doing and I am pretty sure that Dr. "Is that piece of dust my child's umbilical cord" Kyle could have done a better job at "getting things started."  As he explored, Kyle and I pointed out the head, legs, and arms.  He would say things like, "Yeah it looks like a head/arm/leg... but I can't be 100% sure..." At one point he literally did a "tap,tap...is this thing on" mic check with the sono thingie.  HAHA.  It was wonderful to see our sweet baby again so we didn't care who was showing us.  When the sono tech came back in she got straight to work showing us all of Baby MOs features.  She even bragged that Baby Mo was "so photogenic" and should be a "sonogram model".  Well of course...  My head was too big to fit through the door on our way out.  I asked Kyle if he thought they said this to everyone to which he replied, "Obviously..." BUT yet another DR. came in to show the resident observer a few more things and had the same "photogenic" and "sono model" comments to share.  Our baby is just gorgeous...look for Baby MO on the cover of Sonogram Tech Weekly soon ;)  

At various points I was told to turn my head so that I did not see the goods, or lack thereof, but Kyle watched the whole time.  I watched his face but he remained constant the whole time.  Kyle asked the sono tech if she knew what Baby MO was and she said yes and asked him if he thought he did.  Kyle swears that he did based on one of the screen shots.  She then typed in the gender on the screen while I looked away.  Kyle's poker face was solid though and his ear to ear grin did not waver one bit.  We had the sono tech seal the gender shot and a card in an envelope (pictured above) so that I would not be tempted.  

I got to take these pictures with me to show off throughout the day.

My Mom's favorite story of me meeting Mary Agnes is when I was holding her and leaned over, grabbed my own foot, and announced in my unusually deep 2 year old voice, "Momma, hers gots BIG feet..."

Gender Reveal

Thank you Jovana for spending time with us and taking 100s of pictures!  We cannot wait to see them all!

My Momma and I woke up early to begin cooking and getting our serving pieces ready for the party.  Kyle was glad to see that I was actually using my wedding gifts and I was glad to have an extra set of hands to help me prepare.  

We had quite the menu:

This part is a little creepy...

 SuSu and Mary Agnes made these outfits for one of my old baby dolls.  Disclaimer: We did NOT have the baby in the clothes during the party.  Though the boys did bring it out towards the end...HAHA.  The one on top was to please those who thought Baby MO was a girl...and then for those who thought boy, the tutu came off.

Sweet Meg Carlstedt set everything up for us at Toes' house so that all we had to do was a few touch ups.  (We love you Auntie Meggie!)

Friends began arriving, eating, drinking, and visiting and I was oh so glad to have Jovana there taking pictures so that we could just enjoy.  Around 8:30 we could not wait any longer so we rounded everyone up to head to the roof.  JohnJohn was tasked with the role of lighting the firework.  Kyle had both set out behind a table and simply told John which one to light.

Y'all my heart was about to burst with happiness.  Kyle had me so convinced that Baby MO was a boy that finding out that it was actually a SHE was such a shock!  I cried with joy at the thought of a daughter and still cannot believe it!  Kyle is such a good secret keeper!

                           
                                         

We continued to celebrate throughout the night with all of our sweet friends and family.  (More pictures to come!)

I have watched the videos no less than 100 times and they bring tears to my eyes every time.  Each morning since Saturday I have woken up and announced to Kyle, "WE ARE HAVING A GIRL!!!" to which he replies with a smirk, "I know..." ;)

Thank you to everyone who made our Baby GIRL'S gender reveal oh so special.  We love each and every one of you so much and cannot imagine life without you.  Baby girl is already oh so loved and protected.  

We are truly blessed. ;)

PS-I will do a Gender Reveal Part II when Jovana posted the other pictures!  Hooray!!
